In Minnesota, standing up to a refugee backlash

Somali refugees have been settling in St. Cloud for the past decade, but it’s only recently that the Somali community began to suffer from a series of Islamophobic and xenophobic incidents. In response, Haji Yusuf, a Somali who came to St. Cloud as a college student, and Natalie Ringsmuth, who grew up in the city, are leading a movement for coexistence and community dialogue. In this America Tonight excerpt, Christof Putzel talks to them about their campaign to foster a diverse city, and the dangers of letting nativist sentiments fester.
