As the Dominican Republic gears up for the busiest time of its tourism season, a protest in a Montreal airport on Tuesday urging travelers to boycott the island nation has become the latest in a bout of protests condemning a controversial ruling that could strip citizenship from nearly 200,000 Dominicans of Haitian descent.

Activists are using the hashtag #DroitsHumainsRD (French for "Human Rights Dominican Republic") as part of a campaign to target the Dominican Republic's estimated $4 billion tourism industry.
