A Jordanian member of parliament has reportedly opened fire inside one of the halls of the parliament building in Amman, discharging at least three shots from his automatic weapon

There were no injuries reported in the incident in which MP Talal Al Sharif allegedly fired his weapon at MP Qusai Al Dmeisi after a dispute.

The nature of the argument was not immediately clear. But several MPs told Al Jazeera that shots were fired after an argument took place during a meeting to discuss budgetary matters.

Right before he entered the main hall of parliament, MP Mariam Al Lozi tried to stop him from using his weapon by directing it at the ceiling, it has been reported. Al Sharif pulled the trigger and fired at least three bullets at the ceiling and a wall.

The incident happened during a closed session of parliament, which was surrounded by riot police shortly after the shooting.

Another account of the incident reported that Al Sharif went down to his car after the dispute and brought his firearm.

As he was walking back into Parliament and while security guards were confiscating his weapon by force, the trigger was pulled and a stray bullet hit the wall of the Parliament hall.
