South African singer wants elites to face the music

AJ+: South African artist Fiesta Black is using her music to express frustration with corruption

Fiesta Black has just released a track with an unflattering message about South African elites who have gotten rich at the expense of others: They are wicked. AJ+ follows her as she urges millions of South Africans to stop paying bribes and fight back.

An estimated $60 billion has been lost to corruption in South Africa over the past two decades.

"Corruption destroys the trust that we have in our public institutions," says Kavisha Pillay of Corruption Watch." The people who suffer the most are those that are marginalized and that live in poor areas and are living below the poverty line, because they are depending on the government for services that are not being provided."
