He made his name in the boxing ring. Now former heavyweight champion turned mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, is engaged in the most important fight of his life. Klitschko was at the forefront of protests in Kiev last year that swept a pro-Western government to power in Ukraine, sparked an armed conflict in the east, and put a deep chill on relations between Russia and the West. It is a tough arena for any politician to negotiate, even for someone with an 87 percent knockout rate.
This month will mark Klitschko's one year anniversary as mayor of Ukraine's capital. He was recently in New York City to see his younger brother Wladamir successfully defend his heavyweight title. Al Jazeera's Patricia Sabga sat down with the former pugilist.
