Police brutality: Regaining the public's trust

This short documentary examines how the LAPD is attempting to rebuild relations with city residents

In the midst of national outrage over police-related deaths, the Los Angeles Police Department is inviting concerned citizens to try its virtual-reality training program on using lethal force. The goal, police say, is to let people experience what it’s like to be an officer who only has seconds to choose the most appropriate forceful measure to quell a hostile situation.

The LAPD's program is just one of many that police departments across the country have launched to help regain the public's trust.
