India's coal rush triggers climate change fears

India intends to ramp up its coal extraction over the next few years, but local communities are fighting the move

India plans to double the amount of coal it pulls from the ground by 2020. The government says this will propel economic growth for 1.3 billion citizens, but activists warn it could push the world dangerously close to irreversible climate change. AJ+ traveled to India’s coal belt to investigate.
