Moms demand justice for sons killed by police

Short doc follows activist Maria Hamilton as she organizes and launches the first Million Moms March

After her son, Dontre Hamilton, was shot and killed by a Milwaukee police officer in 2014, Maria Hamilton formed Mothers for Justice United to bring together women who have lost children to police violence.

Seeking to raise awareness about the killings of their children and others like them, group members staged a Million Moms March in May in Washington, D.C. Together, they called for justice for all victims of police violence and asked the Department of Justice to appoint a special prosecutor to re-examine their cases.

In the following short documentary, AJ+ follows Hamilton through her journey of planning and launching the momentous march.
