Wikipedia welcomes Kentucky Senators back to GOP
In a rousing triumph for the power of the press in general and, of course, The Scrutineer in particular, Wikipedia has allowed Kentucky Sens. Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell to rejoin the GOP after more than two scandalous, perplexing weeks on the other side of the aisle.
It took 134 minutes for the goof to be fixed from the time we reported on the odd spectacle of the Internet’s most-used information resource listing two of the most visible and powerful Republicans as Democrats. A Wiki editor named GRuban made the change Jan. 7 at 1:07 a.m. GMT and backed up the fix with the notation, “As mentioned in the news.” The edit trail shows the mistake remained for 17 days.
McConnell was unaffected by the glitch and was elected as the leader of the Republican-controlled chamber on Tuesday. It is unclear whether opponents of Paul, expected to seek the GOP nod for president in 2016, will use his momentary career as a Democrat against him.
