Despite a hot young quarterback and sellout crowds, the Broncos appeared to be on the brink of bankruptcy in 1984 until they were purchased by Pat Bowlen (pictured) and his siblings. Bowlen, an oilman and real estate developer, took over as chief executive officer and a year later became majority owner. In 2013, Bowlen became the first NFL owner to win at least 300 games in his first 30 years, with 305 wins over those years.
