Executive Vice President, Marketing
Cathy Tankosic is Al Jazeera America’s executive vice president of marketing, where she oversees consumer marketing, advertising, on-air promotions, affiliate marketing, ad sales marketing and events. Tankosic joined Al Jazeera America from an independent consultancy where she advised networks, digital media companies, and VC’s on brand & creative strategy, positioning, and marketing. Among her media clients were NBCU, CBS Sports, and AMC Networks. Prior to consulting, Tankosic was executive VP of Magna Global Entertainment, the branded-content unit of Interpublic, where she developed content projects for Fortune 500 advertisers. Prior to Interpublic, Tankosic spent 15 years at Comedy Central and Viacom, joining Comedy at launch and becoming SVP, Marketing & Creative. There, she steered the brand across all lines of business including cable TV, digital, live events, tours, licensing, and international expansion, growing ratings every year and making the channel a top 10 network among men 18-24. She launched Comedy Central’s brand-defining franchises including “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” “Chappelle’s Show,” and “South Park.” She segued from Comedy Central to MTV Networks to launch the URGE digital music service.
Tankosic started her career in strategic planning at USA Network. She has been recognized with numerous Promax & BDA awards, including Brand Builder, as well as Cannes Lion, Reggie, and numerous Webby and CTAM Mark awards.
