NEW YORK – November 2, 2015 – Al Jazeera America today announced changes to its primetime programming slate, effective immediately. Ali Velshi On Target is moving up from 10:30pm to air at 9pm and America Tonight with Joie Chen will be moved from its 10pm slot to broadcast at 9:30pm. AJAM’s international news hour with Antonio Mora is moving from 9pm to 10pm.
“We’ve launched several recent initiatives to bolster our newsgathering resources, increase multiplatform access to editorial and expand original live news coverage,” said Kate O’Brian, President of AJAM. “Revamping the primetime programming slate is yet another advancement in positioning AJAM for future success.”
AJAM’s new primetime schedule follows the recent move of Inside Story, hosted by Ray Suarez, from 11:30pm to 6:30pm to serve as a thoughtful news primer ahead of AJAM’s two marquee news hours: News Roundup with Tony Harris at 7pm, followed by National Report with John Seigenthaler at 8pm.
“These changes to AJAM primetime’s schedule create a logical sequence of nightly news coverage and programs, strategically slated to ensure we’re reaching the right audiences at the right times,” said Amjad Atallah, AJAM’s Executive Vice President for Content.
On October 12th, AJAM’s expanded its morning news program hosted by Stephanie Sy and Del Waters, now titled “Your World This Morning,” which now runs run thirty minutes longer beginning at 7am, instead of its previous start time of 7:30am.
Effective today, AJAM is now also available in HD for DirecTV subscribers, and this Wednesday, November 4th, AJAM will also be available in HD for Dish subscribers.
