NEW YORK – (June 12, 2015) – This week, Al Jazeera America received a Bronze Award at the prestigious 2015 PromaxBDA North America Promotion, Marketing and Design Awards.
AJAM received the award in the “Special News Report or Event Program Spot or Campaign” category for the spot entitled, “#FreeAJStaff — What If No One Knew?”
The spot was created by the On Air Promotions team at Al Jazeera America for use on-air and in a media campaign in Times Square. “#FreeAJStaff — What If No One Knew?” raises awareness for Al Jazeera’s detained journalists in Egypt and supports the global campaign for their release. With the hashtag #FreeAJStaff, the spot reminds viewers of the importance of free journalism around the world and creates an emotional appeal for support, using footage from some of Al Jazeera correspondents’ strongest reporting packages.
Kate O’Brian, President of Al Jazeera America, said, “Congratulations to the talented creative team at Al Jazeera America who created this important spot. We continue to call for the acquittal of our Al Jazeera colleagues in Egypt, and for better safeguards for free press around the world.”
The PromaxBDA Awards is an annual competition that stands for excellence in media marketing and speaks to every part of the business, from promotion and design to branding and interactive.
