The recent defeat of Houston’s broad nondiscrimination ordinance has shed light on the issues facing the transgender community in public settings, such as restrooms. For transgender kids, going through the physical and emotional changes of puberty in a body they don’t identify with can be downright devastating. And when those changes involve settings like school and public restrooms, it can be challenging and awkward. In this America Tonight excerpt, Christof Putzel talks with transgender kids and their families about getting bullied in Texas in the age of “the bathroom bill.”
