Nearly a fifth of all active duty police officers suffer from PTSD. But many of them aren’t getting the help they need, psychologists say. For years, if you were a cop, admitting you struggled to recover from traumatic events was a sign of weakness. And some cops don’t realize there’s a problem until they’re off the force. In this clip from America Tonight, Adam May talks to Mike, a retired police officer who spiraled into alcohol, drugs and depression before getting a diagnosis — and the help he needed.
