The B-52s' new wave sound and flamboyant costumes eventually led Rolling Stone to dub them "America's favorite party band." “I think the greatest legacy of the band, I realized later, is that people are allowed to have fun, to let their freak flag fly,” singer Kate Pierson said. “It gives people joy and it actually helped a lot of people get through life." Pierson chats with America Tonight’s Adam May about her staying power in pop culture and the outrage her new solo single "Mister Sister" caused in the transgender community
