Ferguson mayor on protests: ‘I wasn’t there’

Nearly a year after the death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown at the hands of a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer put the St. Louis suburb at the center of a national conversation on race and justice, much of the city’s leadership has been forced out or resigned. But Mayor James Knowles insists — even facing a recall effort — he’s staying put.
