Toxic beach: Residents, energy industry face off along California coast

The Ormond Beach wetlands in Oxnard, California, in the heart of the Pacific Flyway, are home to hundreds of species of birds. But the wetlands are also home to unsightly power plants and 1 million cubic acres of toxic material left over from a bankrupt smelting plant that’s now a federal Superfund site. The area can’t be restored unless the power plants and toxic site are removed. In this excerpt from America Tonight, Michael Okwu reports on the power struggle between the energy industry and a community hoping to restore its beach.
