Heartened by Pope Francis, gay Catholics seek acceptance in church
Coppola was a parishioner at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church and, until 2012, a regular volunteer. However, after an anonymous letter to the bishop complained about Coppola’s marriage to a man, he says the parish prohibited him from participating in the religious ministry.
