What do you want from a nightly current affairs program?
By Azmat Khan
That’s one of the questions we put to you, our growing online community, during our first Google+ Hangout On Air.
The hangout was an opportunity for you to meet some of our team and learn more about some of the stories we're working on, but it was also an opportunity for us to find out how you want to see nightly current affairs done differently, more intelligently and more in-depth. And you delivered.
From ideas about how to innovate a viewer’s “second-screen experience” and digitally fact-checking live interviews to pursuing stories that explore prison reform, caring for the elderly and underreported sexual violence, your responses have been absorbing. We’ve been paying close attention. If you missed it, watch above and see for yourself.
But we don’t want the conversation to stop there. In fact, we’re counting on you to continue to give us your feedback – your ideas, your pitches and yes, even your criticism – to help make this show the best it can be.
So here's what we'd love:
Keep sending us pitches for "What Works" - successful solutions to problems, with concrete demonstrable results. These can include anything from a scientific breakthrough, to a medical cure, to a program that remedies social problems, to an individual who changes lives for the better.
Share first-person stories with us about "All Americans," people whose important stories usually go unheard and unreported.
And tell us what you think about what we're we're doing. Here's our promise: Keep talking to us on Facebook, Twitter and Google+, and we’ll keep listening.
