Looking for your favorite civil rights #LongReads

On Aug. 28, 1963, 250,000 Americans took to the streets of Washington to call for civil and economic rights for African Americans. At the time, the March on Washington was the biggest political demonstration ever staged in the United States, and it would become a critical turning point in American history.

As the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington approaches next week, America Tonight has partnered up with Longreads.com to collect the best stories about civil rights -- and we want your input.

Tell us in the comments below which readings have influenced you and why, in 250 words or less. They can be historical texts, stories from the archives, or newer reporting and essays. We’ll be selecting some of your reflections to be featured as part of our coverage.

America Tonight is teaming up with Longreads.com to collect the best civil rights stories.
