Marshallese poet’s promise to daughter: ‘No one’s losing their homeland’
At the UN Climate Summit in September, the world was introduced to a new voice from the front lines of climate change: poet Kathy Jetner-Kijner from the Marshall Islands, a low-lying atoll in the middle of the Pacific. In this excerpt from “A Poem to My Daughter,” a letter to her 7-month-old about the rising sea, she hopes to motivate others to keep fighting climate change for future generations.
