This Week on The Stream: Ivy League, Dolphins, Drones

"The bottom line is this is casual amusement. I think Seaworld [the corporation] is called Seaword Amusement because it's an amusement park basically. What are we really teaching children when they see a dolphin show? Do they really get an education and respect for nature? I think not."

Richard O'Barry, Dolphin Activist

This week, the Stream discusses drones, dolphins, and college sports.

On Monday (August 25th) and Wednesday (August 27), we discuss the state of education in America.  From the Ivy Leagues to primary school classrooms, what is happening in America's schools?

"If we really want to improve schools, and improve student achievement, we need to address poverty. The best curriculum [...] can't make a kid care about math when they're hungry. They can't make a kid care about science when they're not sure where they are going to sleep tonight."

Dan Fuller, Communities in Schools

On Tuesday (August 26) and Thursday (August 28) we air never before seen clips from our interviews with former NFL punter Chris Kluwe and dolphin trainer and activist Richard O'Barry.

"As an athlete, you are pushed into classes you are expected to pass. You're not pushed into classes that help you succeed. To the school, the value you provide is being out on the football field and drawing in fans. It's not whatever your academic pursuits are."

Chris Kluwe, former NFL punter

On Friday (August 29) we will air our show on domestic uses of drones.
