In an email to The Stream, NDLON member Marisa Franco shared her group's goal: “Under the President’s administration, nearly two million families have been torn apart through detention and deportation. Our communities can no longer wait for the president to rediscover his moral compass or for Congress to actually do its job. We will do what any mother or father would do and keep our families together by preventing ICE from being able to tear them apart.”
Activists at the demonstration reported that Tucson police made arrests, removed journalists, and planned to use saws to remove the chains of protesters from the buses.

The protest in Tucson comes just days after a major immigration reform rally occurred in Washington, DC where prominent Democratic congressmen were
arrested . The current immigration reform bill is with the House of Representatives, awaiting a
vote .
