100 miles to democracy
How far do you have to travel to vote? Some Native Americans in Montana have to drive as far as 120 miles round trip in order to reach early voting polling stations. Requests for satellite polling stations on reservations led to a legal battle right before Election Day in 2012, but were ultimately denied. The Ninth Circuit will hear an appeal of last year's case on October 10.
