#24NoMore: Irish doctors hold strike for shorter shifts

Ireland's junior doctors staged a nationwide strike on Tuesday over what they describe as "dangerously long working hours." The junior doctors and supporting organizations like the Irish Medical Organization said the strike was primarily out of concern for how current working conditions would affect patient care and safety. In a recent survey, 85% of junior doctors said they routinely work shifts lasting longer than 24 hours. The strike follows weeks of failed negotiations with the government over working conditions.

Approximately 3,000 doctors from 51 Irish hospitals took part in the single-day action. In the video below, strikers explain their grievances:
