The shoplifting arrest last week of 14-year-old Joseph Williams in Tullytown, Pa. has raised concerns of police brutality after Williams' mother posted a photo showing significant injuries to the teen's face.

Williams was arrested last Tuesday after being accused of shoplifting $31.93 worth of merchandise from Walmart. Tullytown police and the county's district attorney David Heckler deny that the arresting officers acted inappropriately.  According to police, Williams escaped from the squad car while handcuffed and took off running. Police say Williams was warned to stop, and, when he didn't, they fired a taser that hit him in the shoulder and cheek, causing him to fall. Marissa Sargeant, Williams' mother, disputes that account and says her son was punched several times in addition to being tasered in the face. Sargeant posted a photo of her son's injuries to Facebook on Friday, which received more than 52,000 shares over the weekend.
