After 40,000 people demonstrated in the streets on Tuesday in support of banned Bogota mayor Gustavo Petro, social media in Colombia has been highly engaged in what has become the country's top political story. Using the hashtags #PetroNoSeVa (Petro Not Leaving), #PetroSeQueda (Petro Stays), and #PetroDestituido (Destitute Petro), pro- and anti-Petro voices are sharing thoughts on the former leftist fighter, prohibited by the country to hold office for 15 years due to allegations that Petro "affected the freedom of enterprise and put in risk the environment and human health of Bogota's population."
