An Alaska militia leader sentenced to more than 25 years in January for conspiracy to kill law enforcement officials has recently written to Amnesty International, claiming that he is a political prisoner of the United States and that the human rights organization should take on his case. Francis Schaeffer Cox, arrested in 2011 for a plot targeting Alaska state troopers and a federal judge, also plans to have his court-appointed attorney file an appeal by December 15.
