Seattle approves $27 fine for smoking pot in public

On Monday the Seattle City Council unanimously gave police the power to issue $27 fines for anyone caught smoking marijuana in public. The fine amount is equivalent to tickets issued for public drinking, and a police spokesman said that the department will use discretion in writing up citations for the new ordinance.
