The surprising effects of a government shutdown you may not know about

As the federal government prepares for a likely shutdown beginning at 12:00 a.m. on October 1, many have focused on the expected consequences, like the furlough of hundreds of thousands of government employees. But some of the less known and, perhaps, more surprising consequences have been discussed widely on social media.
