Brian Cassella, a Chicago Tribune photographer, has been taking photographs of Chicago schools that were shut down this year.

Last May, the Chicago Board of Education voted to close more than 50 schools, including about 10 percent of elementary schools in the area. On July 31, denying demands from the Chicago Teachers Union to keep ten of the schools open, an Illinois judge upheld the Board of Education's decision.
