45 states have agreed to adopt CCSS by 2014. This represents the first time nearly all states will have common expectations for what students should learn.
21 states will fully implement the standards across all grade levels this fall, the most to do so since CCSS was introduced in 2009.

Despite its widespread use, almost
two-thirds of Americans have never heard of CCSS. Among those who are familiar, some applaud the move as a step towards creating an internationally-competitive educational system.

Many of those who have taken part in the Common Core discussion have pointed out views toward CCSS are not divided along partisan lines.
