Many Brunswick residents shared news of the deaths on social media.
I don't know about you all, but I'm definitely wearing my "We Are Brunswick" shirt tomorrow. #BrunswickStrongBHS Truths
I'm legitimately nervous that Brunswick is about to have a suicide follow train... Praying that these kids find their inner strengthSummer Skye
According to the news site The Cleveland Leader, some Brunswick parents have
blamed the social networking site Ask.fm for one of the suicides, saying the anonymity of the site allows for cyberbullying.
After the school district posted a Facebook message about the deaths, the Brunswick community questioned the response from administrators and pushed for more accountability:
My son attended BHS. He was bullied by several boys. The school did nothing. In fact, they blamed HIM for fighting back.Rockin Richard
So other than resources being available for the kids, what does the school district plan to do to curb this trend?Scott Reddish
My thoughts and prayer to both of these families. No parent should ever have to bury their child and for the love of God no child should have to go through this. Accountability... and a true zero tolerance policy should he enforced.Tracey Brown
Others, including the school district, expressed concern that some of the social media reaction was spreading misleading information.
Let's not add to rumors by talking about the circumstances when so little is known. No matter what the reason, two young men are gone. Prayers to the family.Jamie Shoup Buczak
It is very important during this time that you ask your children to be cautious about what they are reading on social media. Much of the information that is out there is incorrect and misleading. Talk to your children about the information that they are hearing. If you have specific concerns or questions about the information, please contact your child's school.brunswickschools.org
Concerned parents set up a Facebook
page to discuss the next steps for the Brunswick community. Students at Brunswick High School also started a campaign to post positive notes on school lockers, a project that quickly spread to other area schools as well.
Walking into school and seeing these on every single locker made me so proud to be a Blue Devil #BrunswickStrong http://t.co/uonoWWeNoIHannah
