The Supreme Court heard a case on Wednesday to reconsider a Massachusetts law that keeps anti-abortion protesters in buffer zones 35 feet away from health care facilities, potentially setting the stage for the law to be overturned.

The 2007 law was originally created in part as a response to the state's violent history at abortion clinics, including a 1994 shooting rampage in Brookline, Mass. The McCullen v. Coakley case pins the right to choose against what some say is freedom of speech, sparking a debate that raises issues of access, public safety and protection of women who visit the centers.
