Atlantans used Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to share their version of the events:
#cobbparkway and #windyhill ❄❄❄❄❄ stay safe y'allkkaycam
Some compared the scene to the popular AMC show The Walking Dead, saying that it was reminiscent of an apocalypse.
Man this looks just like my favorite show The Walking Dead. This doesn't make any sense... Some people Georgia Department of Transportation need to get fired..#frozen #snowedoutatlanta #whereismytaxmoneygar1rider
Conversations online soon turned to concern, with many posting and sharing information to their social networks as a means to crowdsource assistance:

Anyone in the Hiram / Dallas area? I'm stuck at a friend's house and my dog is at home without food or water! We tried to get home last night and after 5 hours, only made it to their house.Darlene Williams
We banded together despite being strangers to help our fellow man/woman.#Atlanta #Snowpocalypse #SnowedOutAtlanta http://t.co/UNEvFIhE7qLaToya Palmer
That's Patrick for you - all smiles - just returned from 285/ Roswell Road - traffic is moving west bound slowly and east bound wide open - Roswell Road wide open - ice melting. It was easy to get him to help - he has cabin fever and an all wheel drive vehicle. If anyone needs gas or a battery jump we can help and still have room at the inn. At 285 and Roswell Road- in the Chastain park neighborhood.Randall D. Fox
Walked down with a backpack full of food and water for people stranded in their cars outside my neighborhood. Found a woman with her quadriplegic husband that had been stranded all night in their van. They had no food or water. These amazi...ng strangers put their snow chains on her tires and helped navigate her car to a nearby house to get her husband inside and warm. People that have lost their faith in humanity are wrong. I am moved to tears.See More
Anyone near Delk rd exit(261) on I-75 in need of water let us know. We can not risk driving onto the highway, however we are willing to meet you off the exit with water and a snack bar to hopefully help hold you until more help arrives.Kourtney Dotson
Have 4WD and available to help in West Cobb... #SnowedOutAtlanta #atlweather #atlsnow #atlantasnowMark S.
Some residents created public Google maps for people to easily navigate where to go for help:

In response to what some call Atlanta's lack of preparation to handle the snowstorm, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed have issued statements redirecting the blame.
At the time of this article's publishing, there are still many who are
stuck on the roads.
