A Texas resident is suing the Austin Police Department for preventing him from filming the conduct of the city's officers in what he says is a civil rights violation.

Antonio Buehler started the police-accountability project Peaceful Streets after witnessing what he considered a violent arrest on Jan. 1, 2012. Officer Patrick Oborski found Buehler taping the event, which led to a heated argument and Buehler's arrest. Both Buehler and Oborski were cleared of felony charges after the incident, though Buehler was still indicted on charges of failure to obey a lawful order.
