Women, atheists protest Mormon church conference
More than 100,000 people congregated in Salt Lake City this weekend for the 184th biannual conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – but not everyone felt welcome.
A Mormon women's group that advocates for females to be let into the priesthood and a group of atheists were allowed on church property to protest but were confined to an area outside the church called the Temple Square.
The media were barred from the Temple Square altogether due to the "disruptive" coverage of protests that occurred outside last year's conference, according to LDS church spokesman Cody Craynor.
