Writer David Foster is receiving backlash after penning an op-ed that argues that the work of "Everyday Sexism" – a London-based online campaign that documents discrimination against women through crowdsourcing their experiences – could rewind progress made by women in the sexual revolution.
He goes on to say that equating direct sexual advances with harassment is misguided and that feminists should instead welcome them.
But advocates for women have pushed back against Foster's statements. They noted that some sexual advances are unwanted and ignoring the personal boundaries of women, especially while power dynamics are still uneven, perpetuates violence.
