Direct from the Hungary-Austria border

Thousands of Syrians have fled their country by land and sea to reach Europe, where they hope to be granted asylum from more than four years of brutal civil war. However, not all of them have been welcomed.

AJ+ followed a Syrian family on their journey from Hungary, where police have sealed borders and clashed with refugees, to Austria. On the way, the family opened up about their struggle to find safety and peace, as well as their hopes for the future.
