Born in Padua, Italy, Ilaria Dagnini Brey is a freelance writer and translator. She contributed articles to Corriere della Sera and was a New York correspondent for the Italian edition of Elle magazine for 15 years. She is the author of “The Venus Fixers: The Remarkable Story of the Allied Soldiers Who Saved Italy’s Art During World War II” (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2009). The Italian edition of the book, which she translated, received the 2010 Pasquale Rotondi Award.
