Pushing the limits of human endurance
Alex Honnold, a free solo rock climber, and Jimmy Chin, a photographer, explorer, and filmmaker, embody a unique relationship between the athlete and the photographer — one where trust is of the utmost importance. With this trust comes a certain tranquility between the two — when the moment is being captured, the athlete focuses on his next move as the photographer focuses on the angle.
Honnold has completed the only known solo climb of the Yosemite Triple Crown (Mt. Watkins, El Capitan, and Half Dome) in 2012. In 2008, he completed the first ropeless free ascent of Moonlight Buttress, in Zion National Park. Chin participated in the documentary film “Into the Mind” both in front of, and behind the camera.
Honnold and Chin join Antonio Mora on Tuesday’s edition of Consider This to tell us what it is like to push boundaries. Along the way, we hope to learn: What drives them? How far will they go? Do they realize the risk they take?
