The passage of pension cuts in Puerto Rico resulted in a two-day teacher's strike this week that shut down public schools throughout the U.S. territory. During the strike, the island's Supreme Court halted the implementation of the pension reform bill and agreed to hear a lawsuit filed by the Teachers Association and several plaintiffs. The plaintiffs claim the cuts are unconstitutional. Justifying their decision, the Supreme Court said that the plaintiffs could suffer material harm from the ruling.
