Next week, President Obama will outline his new political agenda in his State of the Union address to a Congress now run by Republicans.
The president has been touring the country to preview this year's address, lifting the lid on cybersecurity and jobs initiatives from the White House.
But what do you want the president's priorities to include? Find out how to submit your ideas below.
We're reprising our award-winning #DearPOTUS project and we want to hear your agenda items for lawmakers this year.
Last year, we asked you to weigh in, and thousands of you did, tweeting and emailing us about the issues you wanted Washington to tackle.
To get this year's project started, we reached out to some people featured in recent America Tonight stories:
Michelle Kinsey Bruns
Michelle Kinsey Bruns went to her Catholic school more than once with two black eyes by the time her mother finally left her stepdad and they moved in with family in Georgia. When she found out she was pregnant shortly before her 18th birthday, Bruns relapsed into the suicidal thoughts that had followed her for years. Now 38, Bruns is a Web developer, digital strategist and – ever since the murder of abortion provider George Tiller in May 2009 – an abortion clinic escort. She says the abortion she had as a teenager saved her life.
Marcello Martinez
Andrew was an outgoing high school senior. His goal was to become a firefighter, but a freak incident changed his life. Just after his 18th birthday, he had a heart attack that starved his brain of oxygen. Since he left the hospital three years ago, he’s lived in nursing homes in Fort Lauderdale. Andrew’s dad, Marcello Martinez, said he would love to care for his son at home, but he was never told he could have in-home care. According to a U.S. Justice Department investigation, the state of Florida has been pushing parents like Martinez to send children with disabilities to nursing homes.
Sara Wolff
In September, America Tonight profiled Sara Wolff, a remarkable young woman who accomplished something few others have done lately: getting members of Congress from both parties to back her bill.
The ABLE Act, signed into law by President Obama just before Christmas, lets Americans with disabilities save for their own futures without the risk of losing government benefits like Medicaid.
Wolff will attend this year's State of the Union, but she has another item on her to-do list for the president.
Kelly Pustejovsky
Last year, we met Kelly Pustejovsky, who lost her husband in the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, in April 2013. More than a year after the explosion, Pustejovsky remained visibly upset that the state of Texas hadn't done more to help monitor ammonium nitrate storage in the state's fertilizer facilities, potentially putting more people at risk. Now, ahead of President Obama's latest State of the Union address, Pustejovsky maintains hope that her right to bear arms will not be altered. "I value the freedom to exercise my Second Amendment right as protected by the Constitution and in accordance with gun laws designed to promote safe, responsible use," she said.
Henry Evans
In 2002, at the age of 40, Henry Evans, an athletic father of four, suffered a basilar artery dissection, a hemorrhage in his brainstem caused by a rare congenital defect. Overnight, he became mute and quadriplegic. He went on to found Robots for Humanity, a collaborative project with robot scientists from around the world that seeks to use technology to create body surrogates for bedridden people.
