Meet TechKnow's expert contributors

The premiere episode of "TechKnow" features three young science experts who bravely dove right into making a new show with an unusual approach to understanding how innovation has changed our everyday lives.

Meet Cara Santa Maria, who has a background of hard science training (she has a master's in neurobiology) and journalism (she was a senior science correspondent for The Huffington Post). She calls that unique combination being a "science communicator."

Next you'll meet Phil Torres, a conservation biologist who splits his time between research in the Amazon and a PhD program at Houston's Rice University.

Our third contributor this week on "TechKnow" is Kosta Grammatis, an engineer and innovator who invented a bionic eye for a blind filmmaker, worked at SpaceX and started a non-profit to extend the reach of the internet in developing countries.

All three contributors will be back with exciting new stories, and in the weeks to come you'll meet a whole team of experts whose backgrounds in science, technology and other technical trades give them a uniquely informed and analytical perspective.
