U.S airstrikes under fire as ISIL advances

As President Obama meets with world leaders to discuss ISIL, we examine the impact of airstrikes against the group.

What’s been the impact of U.S. involvement in Iraq & Syria 10 weeks into its airstrike campaign against ISIL? As military chiefs from more than 20 countries meet in Washington DC this week to discuss the progress of the campaign, The Stream examines the broader U.S. approach, which also includes targeting ISIL on social media. Critics of the current strategy say aerial bombardment has been largely ineffective, particularly in other hot spots like Yemen and Somalia and that the digital strategy has only made things worse.
