'TechKnow' i-Limb subject featured in Apple anniversary ad
For one of the most inspiring stories on "TechKnow", contributor Phil Torres traveled to Kentucky to meet family farmer Jason Koger, a bilateral amputee who was test-driving two of i-Limb's sophisticated bionic arms.
Koger had mainly utilized prosthetic hooks since the electrical accident that left him without arms, but the i-Limb technology afforded him unprecedented dexterity and the ability to perform precise tasks like cracking an egg and operating an iPad.
Now that technology and his inspirational story has garnered him an appearance in Apple's viral video commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Macintosh computer.
Titled "1.24.14," the spot was shot around the world in one day, entirely on an iPhone. It features people using Apple technology in a myriad of ways. Koger and his son are shown cracking eggs for a recipe after using the i-Limb's iPhone app.
